The First Two Weeks at Winchester School of art

I am now 2 weeks into The Beginning of my time of Southampton University and the brief we have been given to settle to the area was to study areas around Winchester, i was Given the choice of the Great Hall and the Round Table, and/or the Winnall Moors Nature Reserve, and to make the piece as involving and immersive as you felt appropriate, with a 3d piece and a 1.5 meter drawing.

I reproduced the riverbed in a steel trough, and became interested in the water pollution and manufacturing of the river Itchen through the city, i experimented with crafting a raft out of reeds and branches. the painting/ drawing of the great hall merges into this close and almost spiritual connection with water, and i have a personal attachment to the resemblance and importance of water and how it connects all living matter over the globe.

Also with the Near and Far Exhibition that is going on in the Uni's Gallery the artist behind the work has teamed up with our painting lecturer to see what we could make of his "Manifesto" but being a slight distraction we could simply just experiment and get on with the final piece at the same time, we sketched on to transparent material and project it of the wall space we have and cut away the stencil shape to hang.
